Teens Worst Nightmare: Public Speaking

Hey guys! Today I am going to write a short post on teens worst nightmare: Public speaking. I will add a few shorts tips, and how to get over the fear of public speaking.

The number one tip that I think anyone will give you when talking about public speaking will be, do it. When nervous about getting up in front of people, take opportunities that you get to do this. Wether it be playing an instrument in your church, or giving a speech, you will be glad that you did it afterward.

When you are preparing to stand in front of people, be well prepared. Being prepared will cause you to be less nervous and will give your audience something better to listen to. What helps me when preparing to speak in front of people is to practise my speech or presentation on my family before I present it.

What also helps me is to listen closely to good speakers when they are speaking. Pick out the things that you like in their speech, and apply them to when you speak.

Take your time when you are on stage, don’t rush your speech or performance because your audience will notice when you rush. I know that when you are on stage, that longer you are there, the more nervous you get, but take your time to give the audience a better presentation.

Relax before entering the stage. Focus on your breathing, and go over what you are presenting before you get on stage. The better you prepare yourself before hand, the better you will do on stage.

My Drivers Ed Experience: Tips For Passing Drivers Ed

Hey guys! In today’s post, I will be sharing my drivers ed experience with you, and a few tips on how to pass and do well.

At the beginning of last year, my mom signed me up for drivers ed that our local home school group was hosting. As most of you may know, drivers ed normally last longer than a week at a normal public school. But not for home schoolers, we like to always take the slightly difficult route.

At the beginning of last year untill summer when I was scheduled to attend the class, my Pawpaw was letting me drive some and teaching me the road signs as we drove. As summer rolled around, I soon found out that some of my friends were also attending the same drivers ed class as me. I thought for sure that drivers ed would be an easy pass class were I could set back and talk to my friends for a week.

The first day of class came quickly, and I soon found myself at the front door of the church were the class was taking place. As we all went into the classroom I took a seat beside one of my good friends and took out my note-book. The teacher passed out our work sheets and then told us how he was a strict teacher and would fail us if he thought we shouldn’t be driving. After the introduction, he told us that many people’s lives are in danger when we are driving. I totally agreed with him having been to a few wreaks at that time, and seen the consequences of not driving safe.

By this time, I was pretty comfortable so far with the teacher, but he caught my attention when he said to look at the person beside you. I looked at my friend trying not to smile because of the seriousness in his voice. He then said, “This is the person that will kill you in a car accident.”

I saw the smile drop from everyone’s face. I then knew that this dude did not take the privilege of being able to drive lightly!

The next few days were filled with watching gruesome videos of people getting into wreaks, these were meant stick in our minds to keep us cautious when on the road. To be honest, this was probably the second most stressful week of my life, because of trying to learn all of this information after I got home every night. Not to mention the time I forgot my lunch one day( I almost died).

By the end of the week I was so nervous about taking the test to pass the class. I though for sure I would fail, (at the time I did not know that the test was 200 questions long). But to end the story, I did pass, and got my permit on my birthday this year. So let me share some tips with you for passing drivers ed.

Listen during class: Bring a notebook and take notes while your teacher is talking, because if you are like me, you learn better when someone is explaining it to you.

Study outside of class: Yes, you should take notes and pay attention during class, but you also have to study on your own when you get home.

Remember that you are learning important information: After drivers ed when you take the test and get your permit, when you drive, you have people’s lives basically in your hand. Don’t drive recklessly, or abuse your privilege of driving on roads and highways. Because if you do, this privilege could be taking away in a second, and you could affect many people’s lives.

Don’t stress about failing the class: If you practise the tips above, you will easily pass drivers ed. A lot of road safety and driving is basically common sense and things that you have been taught since you were little.

I hope that you enjoyed this post! If you have any questions about drivers ed, or want to tell me about your drivers ed experience, leave a comment bellow or in the contact section!

Learning How To Play A Musical Instrument At A Young Age

Hey guys! Todays post on Music Mondays will be on Learning to play a musical instrument at a young age. Some of you might be in the process of learning how to play an instrument, and some of you might want to in the future. But I hope that this information will help you in your music carer.

When you have the opportunity in your teen years to learn how to play an instrument, it would be very wise to take that opportunity. In your teen years, you have more time on your hand to learn how to play an instrument than you will in later years. It will also be easier for you to learn in your teen years because of smaller fingers and you can focus better on it. It will be difficult at first, and you won’t be able to play the best, but stick with it and the practice will play off.

I know for some people the cost of learning to play an instrument is very expensive if you have to pay for it yourself. But there are some ways to cut the cost almost in half. At first, start to learn how to play an instrument that doesn’t cost very much. An instrument like the guitar, violon, or keyboard is inexpensive, and is great for beginners.

But when you are buying your first instrument to learn with, do not buy the most expensive instrument at the music store. I started out with 99 dollar guitar while my brother started out with a 300 dollar guitar. Yes, his guitar is easer to play, but mine has a better sound, and it wasn’t very expensive. As you get more advanced in your instrument, you have the opportunity to save up, and maybe buy a better instrument in the future.

People may be telling you that when starting to learn how to play an instrument you need lessons. This is not really true, because some teens do very well teaching themselves how to play that instrument. Now if your parents are offering to pay for you to take lessons, it would be very wise for you to take them. But when you are wanting to learn without your parents funding it, I would buy a music book, instead of paying for lessons that are really expensive. Go to the music store and buy a Hal Leonard music book for your instrument. It may cost around 10-20 dollars, but it this best brand I have found by far.

I hope that this helped you guys! If you enjoyed this post or want to tell me about the instrument that you play, please leave a comment bellow!

Sunshine Sunday: Deuteronomy 31:6

Hey guys! Todays verse is going to be Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”.

This verse is written by Paul while he was preaching to the people in Israel. Paul is telling the people to be strong and courageous and to not fear because God will always be with them. Teens especially tend to worry about their future, like there first job, and going to college. But as we see here, as long as you pray and ask God for guidance, he will lead you in the right direction.

Me personally used to worry a lot about my future. But after praying and asking the Lord for guidance, I came to the realization that you have to trust in God to help you make the right decisions for your future. If God wants you to take this opportunity or go and do this, he will open doors for you to do those things.

The last part of this verse is saying that God always goes with you, and will never lead you the wrong way. Sometimes you may feel like there is no one to trust, but you can always trust in God to help you take the right paths.

This verse also talks about fear, and to not be afraid because God is always with you. With me going to school to be a firefighter, one of the things that I learned early on is that it is a dangerous job. You could go to work one day, and not come back the next, and you have to willing to except that this could happen. Because I am a Christian, I am not one bit afraid of dying, or risking my life to rescue someone else in danger. I have the assurance that if I die, I will go home to be with the Lord in a much better place than on earth. If you have also excepted Christ as your savior, you have no need to be afraid of death, nor earthly things.

Why Do We Enjoy The Beach?

Hey guys! For todays post I will answer a question some of us might have never thought about. Why do we enjoy the beach?

For most of the people in the Unites States, they don’t leave anywhere near an ocean. But for some of us, we may live 3 to 5 hours away from an ocean. This means that if ever, most people in the US don’t spend all of their time

at the beach. Since we don’t do this, when we do go, it makes for a fun and enjoyable experience.

Another reason that we enjoy the beach, is that we really don’t have to do anything while there. It would be just fine if we set on the beach or at the pool all day! This makes it really enjoyable to get a break from the busy lives of people in the US.

While at the beach, we might also get to do things that we can’t do in our home town. Such as swimming, fishing, and boating. For this reason, we really enjoy these activities since we can’t do them very often.

The reason that I also like going to the beach, is to spend time with my family. For a lot of us, we are so busy that we don’t get to spend as much time with our family as we would like to. Going to the beach with family or friends gives us a oppertunity to do this.

Thanks for reading and I hope that you enjoyed this fun short post! Please leave a comment on the reasons that you enjoy the beach!

Tips For Going Away From Home For The First Time

Hey guys! Todays post will be tips for teens who are getting ready to go away from home for the first time. I know for some home schoolers like myself, we don’t leave home very much. So I hope this will help calm someone who is leaving home for the first time.

My story of going away from home for the first time is going to Civil Air Patrol(CAP) encampment a little more than a year ago. This is a week-long event were CAP cadets learn the basic skills they will need to be in CAP. It is basically boot camp for CAP cadets.

At the age of 14, I had never been away from home overnight without my family. So a week away from home in another state seemed like a nightmare. How my brother and I made it through that week, I have no idea.

The first day was the worst. Stepping into a room filled with higher ranking cadets screaming commands at you every second. Having to sit and stand at attention looking straight ahead even at all meals. But let me share a few tips that helped me make it through that week.

Don’t be shy, make friends: If you are going to a summer camp, or sport camp, make new friends. These new friends are the people who will help you make it through your first time away from home. That is one of the mistakes that I made my first few days away from home. Friends will help keep your mind away from home, and this might be their first time away from home also.

Don’t spend all of your time thinking about home, and not enjoy the experience: You need to live in the moment, don’t think about home, but focus on the experience you are having. You will enjoy your first time away from home by practicing this.

Before you leave home, don’t spend so much time worrying about it: One of the mistakes that I made is doing this very thing. Before I left, I spent so much time worrying about how it would be. But after the trip, it was not as bad as I thought it would be.

Don’t be afraid to go away from home for the first time: Don’t pass up great opportunities just because you haven’t been away from home before. As you get older, there will be many opportunities for teens. But a lot of these may require you to be away from home for a few days or weeks. Don’t be afraid to be away from home for the first time.

3 Reasons Why You Should Dress Your Best

I know for teens, sometimes it is hard to get rid of those basketball shorts and tee-shirt. But as teens grow older the importance of  wearing nicer clothing also increases. Here are 3 Reasons Why You Should Dress Your Best.

  1. Wearing nicer clothes increases your confidence: Wearing nicer clothing is a confidence booster. It will make you feel good about yourself, and about how other people see you.  If you look great, you feel great.
  2. It’s a mood changer: If you wear the same shirt everyday, and wrinkled pants, your mood will most of the time be bland. But if you dress up a little, you will feel different, and more excited about the new day.
  3. Your future could rely on it: In your teen years, you will be going on your first interview for a job. When being interviewed for a job, if your outward appearance is not good that instantly kicks you off the list. My purpose in saying this is that dressing nice could be the deciding point on if you get an important job. I used to think that what is on the outside of a person doesn’t matter, but what is on the inside does. This is not always true, because think if you were lost somewhere. Would you be more likely to ask for help from someone who is well dressed, or someone with sweatpants and a tee-shirt?

I know for some of you, this might seem like a big change. But if you are going to start dressing your best, start with dressing nicer only a few days a week, and then everyday after a while.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and if you have any questions or comments leave them at the bottom of the page or in the comment section here: http://flylikeaneagle.info/contact/

Why Having Goals Is So Important

Hey Guys! Todays post will be on Why Having Goals Is So Important.

Most of us have heard time and time again that we need to set goals for ourselves, but does it really help us to stay on track and motivated? We will talk about two kinds of goals; Shorts term goals, and Long term goals.

Short term goals are great for when you are first starting things. For example me starting this blog, I set a short-term goal of blogging everyday for a while untilI get 40 daily readers of this blog. By setting short-term goals, this helps to keep us on path to accomplish the task that we want to complete. When we set short-term goals, these are meant to be very short time goals. You may set goals for a few days or for a week, but short-term goals aren’t meant to last a long period of time. Short term goals are basically breaking larger things into smaller things to accomplish them.

Long term goals are set when you have already competed your Short term goals. Long term goals help us to stay on track for the long run. These goal are more monthly or yearly goals, a lot longer than Short term goals. Example of these goals would be to workout once everyday for a year or for a month.

Setting goals help us more than just keeping ourselves accountable they also help us to stay confident in ourselves. Maybe your goal is to accomplish something that all of your friends have failed at. When you stay on track with your goal, your goal now seems more than just a dream.

Goals also help you to hold yourself accountable. When you keep track of your goal and keep updating it, you can look back to see how far you have come since the beginning. You might also see that the goal you have set for yourself is to large, so you might need to make it more of a short-term goal.

5 Ways You Can Look Good For Cheap

Hey guys! Todays post will be on 5 Ways You Can Look Good For Cheap, and I hope it will be of help to teenaged males who want to look good for cheap.

  1. Find a good deal on nice clothing: When most teens think about how they can dress nicer but at a lower cost, their mind automatically thinks the answer would be to buy the cheapest clothing. But what they don’t think about is that most cheap clothing will be of poor quality and will wear out very quick, which will result in having to restock on clothing every few months or so. When you are having to purchase new clothing every few months, this will result in youlosing lots of money that you might not even think about because you are so used to this idea. The solution to this problem is to buy better quality clothing, at the best price you can find. Always keep your eye out when in a store or online shopping for the best deal. Just think about it, if you buy better quality clothes cheaper and it last you longer, are you really saving money when buying poorer quality clothes at the cheapest price?
  2. Make you wardrobe interchangeable: When expanding your wardrobe, don’t have one shirt that matches this pair of pants, or one jacket that matches this one pair of pants. Buy clothing that all matches. Now I know this might be a shocker to some teens that enjoy having separate outfits, but trust me, this will save you tons of money. Go with the neutral colors such as gray, navy blue, khaki, white, and other colors. Now i’m not saying that you can’t keep your bright-colored shirts that you wear at the beach, but only keep a few.
  3. You don’t need that much footwear: I have seen many teens with footwear that match only one or two outfits that they own, with this habit, you will soon see a large loss in money going mainly toward footwear. When buying footwear, buy neutral colors that will match almost all of your clothing. Buy causal footwear instead of wearing tennis shoes or sneakers because these tend to be more pricy than causal footwear.
  4. Take care of the clothing that you purchase: I know for some, this may be something that they practice regularly, but it might be something worth taking into consideration for others. Everyone knows this, if you take care of your clothing it will last a longer time than if you didn’t. Don’t wear your nicest clothing when you are going to be outside your house mowing the yard all day, choose your older, worn out clothing for this activity. Also, when you keep your clothing in good shape, you will later have the option of selling your clothing for a profit.
  5. It’s the little things that will be noticed: In conclusion to this post, you can buy the nicest clothing available, but if you do not wash, iron, or match your clothing, your outfit is basically destroyed. When you pick the clothing that you are going to wear, make sure it is ironed because people really notice the little things that are wrong with your clothing. It is super easy to make sure that your clothing matches and it really pays of in the long run with a handsome look.

But when chosing good songs to workout to, pick songs with a fast tempo that will keep you going and make you want to keep up. Base the music that you choose of the music that you regularly listen to and enjoy, this will keep you focused on your workout or whatever you are doing. Studys have shown that people work harder in their workout when listening to some kind of music even if it is not heavier music. So pick the music that you like and enjoy your workout.
